LFP batteries can be maintained at 100% charge

The Pebble battery is LFP chemistry, so avoiding 100% charging is not that important. The NMC chemistry used in most EVs is sensitive to charge cycles outside of the middle 50% of pack capacity. But LFP doesn’t exhibit that same behavior; it can be maintained at 100% and still deliver 5 to 10 times the charge-cycle lifetime that can be realized from NMC packs.

The major tradeoff with LFP is that energy density is about half that of NMC, meaning in a standard electric car you halve the range for the same physical pack size.
