R1T outlets may not sustain Pebble charging

At Goldstream Provincial Park on Vancouver Island, dense forest meant solar production was nil. I tried charging directly from the R1T at 8 and 10A, but the Pebble charger threw Error F after about 10 minutes.

Plugging an EcoFlow Delta 3 Max into the R1T and the Pebble into the EcoFlow initially worked at 13A, about 1.25 kW. There’s a convenient Shell Recharge at the Tim Hortons/Shell station just before the campground entrance, so recharging the R1T after touring each day is easy.

You didn't mention the ferry, so I assume that was no particular challenge?

The ferry was easy with an advance reservation. Parking aboard is really tight, but well directed by staff. Two hours in line waiting to board allowed several Pebble conversations, as has become expected. Canadian entry was a breeze, and there were many more Pebble conversations in the campground.

This is great to hear—that the EcoFlow will work. Where does that extra 45 lb ride, in the back of the R1T? I will have to test my Jackery on this same setup.

Are you using HVAC overnight? If so, that is also good to hear. Here in Florida the AC is running constantly, though maybe not so much in northern climates.

Correction: my Jackery is only the 1K version, probably not worth the attempt. I wonder why the Rivian inverter can’t handle that load; it should produce about 15A +/-?

Success was fleeting. It appears that the R1T can’t sustain close to the limits of its 1500W outlets. I never got more than an hour before the Pebble charger, even at 8A, presented Error F and shut down.

Pebble support explained that the charger starts at a default of 32A when plugged in, which is more than a 1,500W vehicle outlet can deliver. Even at its lowest setting of around 8–10A, a 1,500W outlet is at the edge of the sustained load required, so the charger may not settle into a stable session.

The recommended approach is to charge the EcoFlow from the R1T outlet, then use the EcoFlow to charge the Pebble, cycling between the two as needed. A NEMA 14-50 or TT-30 outlet would provide a much faster top-up.

Alas. Whatever happened to the “bi-directional charging” that R1Ts “already have everything they need to make work”? Hope the multi-step workaround works well enough for your dry-camp days. Thanks for the info.
