Transporting e-bikes in a Cybertruck bed while towing
We really wanted to use a bike rack on the back of our Pebble, but with the limited receiver size, I either had to resort to investing in folding e-bikes or figure out a way to fit our current e-bikes into the bed of our Cybertruck and still have the tailgate closed to allow hitching to the Cybertruck.
These bikes are Urtopia Joy Carbon E-Bikes and the bike rack is a RIDE88 Tesla Cybertruck QR3 Kit with an additional crossbar kit to support the back wheels high enough to close the tailgate. So far I'm not seeing any issues with this plan, but I have yet to hitch to our Pebble and take it on a trip.
When we are at a campsite and need to secure the bikes, I plan to bring them into the Pebble office area and leave them securely stored out of sight, then lock them up back in the truck bed when back at the campsite.
Very cool wrap on your Cybertruck! We would be worried about the loss of aero with the tonneau open.
Definitely will lose some range, but this first winter travel season we will find out how much efficiency loss occurs. We get so much enjoyment from our e-bikes; hopefully it will be worth it in the end.
Those are great bikes, but yeah, would be way too much for the rear of the Pebble. A shame they couldn’t make a 2” receiver work on the back, at least not yet. But your setup looks solid, and I agree about the enjoyment and use—worth it!
