First Rivian R1T towing results with Pebble Flow in heavy traffic
I wanted to share some real-world information about my first drive with the Pebble Flow. Please note, this was a particularly busy Northern California Bay Area traffic day, so these results will likely not reflect a typical trip without heavy traffic. I was in stop-and-go traffic for much of the drive: 3+ hours each way for a 135-mile trip.
Driving from the Sacramento region to Pebble HQ in Fremont, CA, my Gen 1 Rivian R1T with 100% SOC (Rivian estimated range = 410) achieved 2.75 mi/kWh efficiency and consumed 49 kWh.
Driving from Pebble HQ back home, the R1T with 99% SOC (Rivian estimated range = 281) achieved 1.82 mi/kWh efficiency and consumed 72 kWh. Upon arrival, the R1T was at 43% SOC with 122 miles of range remaining and the Flow was at 55% SOC.
After driving around town a bit, my first day ended with a total of 147.2 miles driven, 1.92 mi/kWh efficiency, and 86 kWh consumed. Both the R1T and Flow were at 99% SOC upon leaving Pebble HQ in Fremont, CA. On the drive, I was playing around with Easy Tow on and off, so the entire drive was not all Easy Tow. Again, there was heavy traffic—expect different results at a higher average speed.
For reference, while previously towing an Airstream Flying Cloud 27FB with the R1T, the best trip result was 1.22 mi/kWh (Rivian estimated range = 200). We typically stopped to charge around 150 miles, depending on the route and infrastructure. The maximum mileage I pushed to was 210 miles; most of that driving was mountain descent and charging stops were plentiful on the route.
I’ll plan to share more real-world results when I have trips with a typical gear loadout.
Do you have a dual-motor R1T? I’m assuming so since your range is 410. We have a quad motor with a range of approximately 285 at 100%.
