Anyone know if there is a way to make the Pebble keep charging the battery from solar while it's in sleep mode? I have been monitoring my new one and it seems to fully shut down in sleep mode, including solar charging. When I parked it the battery had 34% and hasn't budged for the last 3 very sunny days.
It would be nice to have the battery charge to a set point like 80% while in storage.
As another owner noted, sleep/OFF already lasts many weeks/months. Idle/ON power is reduced in the imminent software OTA.
Pebble staff also have something exciting coming in the energy department. Stay tuned…
A sleep/wake-up timer would be nice. With our Pebble in our driveway, I woke it at about 0900 and with 110 V off it charged from 92% to 99% by 1600 on a partly cloudy day. I then put it to sleep. This should be a pretty easy software addition.
I agree. I think there should be an option to sleep with solar charging. If I leave it in energy-saving mode, it still uses ~140 W and the solar can't even keep up with that with the Colorado sun.
I observe “Appliances” consuming 180 W with the unit awake in energy-saving mode, with no controllable usage active. That seems like a lot for the computer alone.

I’m picking mine up in a couple weeks and am planning on storing it in a lot that won’t have access to power. I was counting on solar keeping the battery topped up, or at least providing a trickle charge to counter phantom drain while in storage. Is that not the case? What would be the purpose of deactivating solar charging during storage, at least until a preset charge amount? Is this on the roadmap for a software update?
As far as unpowered storage and battery usage, just FYI: when in sleep mode I’ve had full weeks that start at 100% battery and end with 100%, so unpowered storage should work out OK.
There seems to be a lot of confusion in the comments as to what is/is not drawing power in various modes. Is this not clearly detailed in the user manual from Pebble? Seems strange.
I believe the confusion stems mostly from the “power-saving” mode terminology. What is powered and not powered in that mode, based on my own experience, is not clearly described and I have had to test things to clarify.
Other than network connections to allow the Pebble to be awakened, my take is that in sleep mode virtually everything is off. So that is what I use most. I run a dehumidifier and an Apple HomePod Mini supporting temperature and humidity monitoring 24/7 in my Pebble when stored, with both powered from an extension cord and wireless access point from the garage, routed through the gear-tunnel floor grommet.
My EcoFlow Delta 3 Max fit perfectly in the gear tunnel! It’s only 2 kW of stored energy, and only outputs at 20 amps, but it will be charged by my 440 W of portable solar to charge the Pebble in addition to the 1100 W of rooftop solar. In certain circumstances, I could add 1500 W from my Rivian. Slow charging, dependent upon sunshine, but free and quiet on long summer days of dry camping.
Can you use the Pebble’s solar to charge your EcoFlow? I’ve got a Bluetti AC200Max I’m going to repurpose in my Pebble as well.
Not directly, but by using the Pebble inverter and plugging the EcoFlow into the outlets in the gear tunnel. Probably about 10% energy loss, but it works.
