Speaking of charging? I'm an EV novice so while I'm prepping for full time travel I have been charging at my parent's house with their normal 110V plugs. I keep having it error out so I plan on having an electrician check it out when I'm back in town. Does anyone have any experience charging from a normal house plug? Any tips or suggestions?
That's consistent with my experience. We've typically set it at 8-10A when plugging into a standard 15A plug at home. In general most electrical outlets aren't designed to sustain more than 80% of their nominal capacity for long periods of time and 60% is probably safer to allow a little more margin. And 60% of 15A is 9A, so 8-10 is right around that.
Yes! The Pebble charger can be set for various amperage. For 110v, 80% of 15 amp would be 12. I set the Pebble charger for 13 amps. I think the default when first plugged into a 110 socket is 8 amp and will throw an error code after a bit. So before connecting to Pebble check the amperage on the Pebble charger.
We first plug the charger into the wall socket. Then, according to the user manual, we select 10A on the Pebble charging box, and then plug the charger into the Pebble.
That's good to know. I've tried selecting all different amperages from 8 to 16 and found that for the most part it didn't seem to really matter, but at 10 amps I got a much more solid connection. It still gave me an error a few times, but I found that it seemed to be related to the air conditioning kicking on. If I plugged it in after the air conditioning was already going then it seemed to be fine.
