How are Pebble owners typically using the Pebble iPad? I’m an Apple guy and have my own Mac, iPhone and iPad devices, and tend to just use the Pebble-provided iPad for Pebble things in/around the campsite or trailer storage location. Are others using the Pebble iPad as their primary device on trips? Any security or other concerns using a basically Pebble-owned/controlled device for personal use?

I was wondering the same thing on my last trip. I went to download a music app and realized there is no App Store app on the iPad, unless I missed it. Does yours have the App Store loaded onto it?
No. I think it's locked down to prevent loading other apps. From a support standpoint, I can understand why. Pebble has to support the iPad, and installing other apps introduces variables that they don't control and the potential to create problems that they'd have to solve.
We were able to find the App Store under the settings gear, but are currently having problems getting it to work. We got an email from Pebble to do an update through the App Store, so this is confusing.
I believe Pebble needs to unlock a setting on our iPads before we can access the App Store.
The update process is definitely confusing, or at least has been given the instructions and/or on my particular build. What I have found that works, as best I recall, with iPhone:
On my iPad, if the “Update” or “Reinstall” button appears, as soon as I select it, it changes to “Install,” and appears to do nothing. If I then go back to the Pebble with the iPad and connect to the Pebble Wi-Fi, then select the Profile tab and Software Update, I see the message “Downloading.” That goes on for some time, but eventually the update appears to succeed. YMMV.

We use tablets to program locks in our properties. We never use them for anything but the original proprietary pre-programmed use.
We never lose them. They never run out of memory. They are never hacked or spammed or get bugs.
Email is our number one vulnerability to hackers. They always find a way in eventually. No email account opened ever, even if a program is there.
It’s impossible for someone to use them for the wrong reasons where they might inadvertently get lost or broken, i.e. playing music on Spotify or a Sonos system.
Along those lines, what if you catastrophically drop the iPad? Do you have to wait for Pebble to supply another, or can you recreate it with an iPad you already own? Can you have more than one iPad running the Pebble app?
