Question
Will running the Pebble after draining the water lines fry the tankless water heater?
Question. So I got a 'Cold Weather Alert' email from Pebble today reminding me that if I have not performed the full winterization process, and am not running the HVAC system (while parked or towing) in freezing conditions, I need to drain the water lines (cold & hot) for the water heater. Good reminder. So my question is if I drain the water heater but leave the Pebble powered, or wake it from sleep, won't the water heater come on (dry) and quickly fry the heating element?

The water heater is tankless, and controlled by a flow sensor. With no water in the lines, hence no flow, the water heater should not energize. You could also turn it off using the front dial.
