What is the internal length of the gear tunnel? We're looking to fit a rug in there and want to know what we are dealing with.

It is 70 inches at the widest point, at the rear-most side against the back of the dinette bench. It tapers gradually from that point toward the nose of the trailer, probably coming in about 2 inches on either side.
For a cylindrical load that likely spans the width of the tunnel front to back, like a rug, I'd say your limit is around 64 inches, and that will be tight; 60–62 inches would be more comfortable. It is also worth pointing out that the tunnel-door opening is a little smaller in each dimension than the inside of the tunnel, which might matter if you're trying to load something that barely fits inside.
