Is a 6–7% overnight battery loss while awake normal?
Has anyone tracked how much energy your Pebble loses overnight while awake, with everything possible turned off? I have been tracking the last couple of nights with everything off (air, fridge, outlets, etc.) and I lose 6–7%. I have the iPad in my garage and the app closed as well. Does that seem high?
Are you in Camp Mode? Are you camping in it? If not, is there a reason why you are not putting it to sleep at night? We see about 6% loss of SoC, but with the outlets on. With everything off like that, how are you keeping the Pebble from sleeping? Is it at a high SoC?
We think the inverter is vamping the power. You'd think turning off the outlets would shut down the inverter. After the last OTA, efficiency seemed better, although we didn't record hard data. We think we used to see 180 W minimum usage during the day with everything shut off. Now we see 80 W minimum. After awakening, it starts at a higher draw for a while, but after it fully boots and settles down, the draw ramps down to as low as 80 W. But that fluctuates. Why? Cell connection to HQ polling? We know it always sends out a Wi-Fi signal and there is a cell connection to HQ. Is that all? I'd love to know what's going on under the hood.
We'll try to track this on our trip, but we use power all night, so it is not the same as your question. Right now, while at home, we put the Pebble to sleep at night and wake it up with the sun to charge.
We're going to try this. We are at 94% SoC at 9:30 AM. I'll check back tomorrow at 9:30 AM.
Camp Mode is engaged, but I am not camping in it. It is parked in the driveway. I started at 97% SoC, so it will not go to sleep until it dips below 80% SoC. I decided over the weekend to see what vampire drain occurs and what recharge I realize with solar on. So far I am averaging 6–7% drain, including whatever charges via solar during the day. I know solar production varies considerably with position, location, etc.
It seems like a consistent 0.9 kW draw with no solar being produced. I was just curious, as Pebble advertises up to 7 days of boondocking, but with a 7% draw with virtually nothing on, 50% of your power for this 7-day trip is gone without turning on a light. Just curious what others are seeing.
