Textured vinyl wrap for front-end rock-chip protection

I applied a textured vinyl to the frontal areas that were becoming chipped by road gravel.
The vinyl was easy to apply, and I’m happy with the appearance.

We have the same issue in the Lightship, including forward-facing polycarbonate windows low to the ground in road mode. I just wrapped the top half of my Lightship with 3M 2080 brushed aluminum vinyl. I put protection film on the front to protect those surfaces. If you live in the southern tier of states, black wrap or paint is not recommended. Surface temperatures can reach over 200°F on hot summer days with black colors, which will quickly deteriorate a vinyl wrap. I wrapped the top half in brushed aluminum to reduce skin temperatures, which has a major impact on cabin temperature. I live in Arizona. By putting brushed aluminum wrap on my Lightship, I reduced skin temperatures by 60°F on an 80°F day at noon compared to the previous black paint trim. Paint and/or wrap color has a dramatic effect on skin temperature in fiberglass foam composite structures.
