Unexplained empty screw holes in closet cabinet doors

Inside my closet cabinet doors are two empty screw holes in both the top and bottom doors. They came this way on delivery, but we didn't notice for a while. They don't hurt anything, but I don't like them.
Possible explanation: Pebble appears to have switched from friction latches to more robust latches after owners reported closet and other cabinets opening in transit. The holes may have been drilled for the original friction latches before the newer latches were installed.
My Pebble was retrofitted with the newer latches. Removing the original friction latches would have left two holes for each latch, so I had them left in place.
My latches look very different. Did they give you a whole new door? I got one of the early Magic Packs, so maybe this was a last-minute replacement.
No new door, just added or replaced latches. Does yours have friction latches where shown in the picture, or is that where the holes are?
Mine were retrofitted in the field after cabinets were opening or not latching. A frame-side piece later popped off; it looked like 1/2-inch screws were used, so I replaced them with 1-inch screws and it feels much more secure now.
These are my hinges. I don't think I have the friction latches.
