Rear window latch can break when closing
Take care with window latches.
I broke a latch while closing the rear window yesterday. The handle snapped out of the base. Fortunately, I had a spare from last year when Pebble sent me some parts. It’s probably best to close the rear window with two hands on the two bottom latches. I know the advice against suction cups on the smart glass, but I’ve now attached a suction handle bottom center. The same type of handle has served us well on the bathroom door for six months.
I broke ours within the first week of ownership and Pebble sent me a replacement. I also tried using a suction handle, but I noticed that it was deforming the window from the outside and don’t use it.
Best practice is to pull on the metal behind the red handle, instead of pulling on the red handle, to close the window.
Good point. Obviously not all suction cups/handles are created equal, and I chose “just strong enough,” then observed our bathroom door for six months without seeing any deformation.
I certainly wouldn’t use SeaSucker on this plexiglass.
