How to test a 30 amp adapter for an L1/L2 short
The best way to check your unit, if you have a multimeter, is to measure the resistance between the L1 and L2 terminals on the NEMA 14-50 side. If those are shorted together, then the adapter will not work properly.

In the bad adapters, we found the parts supplied did not follow the proper connectivity. If you have a bad charger, you will see that when you measure resistance between the L1 and L2 terminals that it will be 0 ohms (or close to 0 ohms), meaning that they are connected electrically. See this diagram for how the bad adapter is connected.
